Volunteer development provides far more than free labor. It extends an invitation to constituents of the ministry to grow in commitment and involvement. When invitations to volunteer are focused on areas of passion for persons, it increases the meaning of your organization for them and offers them a chance for personal fulfillment. Those who volunteer are more likely to become donors or make greater financial contributions. They are also likely to respond to a request to become advocates for the ministry, or to invite their friends and acquantences to become involved.
It is wise in recruiting volunteers to offer entry points that are enjoyable for them and require only a modest amount of time at first. Then work toward more demanding projects. In volunteer development, the needs of the volunteers come even before the needs of the organization or staff.
